The motion that will be made at the District meeting in August, and that the GSR’s may wish to discuss with their groups is as follows.
The Meeting Makers Make It Group that meets on Wednesday nights in Geneva makes a motion that District 61 support the below Proposed Agenda Item motion, and that the District submit the Proposed Agenda Item motion, with supporting information, to NIA for inclusion on the agenda of the Fall Assembly. ( If approved at the Area level, the Area delegate would submit the Proposed Agenda Item to the GSC for inclusion on the 2027 General Service Conference)
“A motion is made that an Advisory Action be established as follows. Any motion to be voted on by the GSC that would change, delete, or amend the first 164 pages of the book Alcoholics Anonymous, the story Dr Bobs Nightmare, the Doctors Opinion, and the Preface and Forward of said book, plus the book Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions would require a Super Majority (three quarters of the voting members) to pass. And that the GSC be thoughtful of the Groups’ desire to review any potential changes before they are voted on by the GSC, and that every effort be made to give the Groups adequate notice that potential changes are on the GSC agenda.”
